About the Package

Day 1  Arrival

Arrive Glasgow airport and transfer to the hotel. Depending on flight and time of arrival, city sightseeing tour of Glasgow. Dinner and overnight in Glasgow.

Day 2  Glasgow to Campbeltown

Leave hotel after breakfast for City sightseeing tour of Glasgow. This will include Glasgow Cathedral, the University buildingsArt Galleries and the many sites of architectural interest. Depart Glasgow heading north until we reach Loch Lomond. We’ll drive along the west bank, with stops in local villages and take in the beautiful views over the Loch, the largest in Scotland. In the afternoon we’ll arrive in the town of Inveraray, sitting on the banks of Loch Fyne, and we’ll visit Inveraray Castle.  

Departing Inveraray, we continue along the banks of Loch Fyne to the Kintyre town of Campbeltown where we visit one of the last surviving producers of Campbeltown Single Malts - the Springbank distillery. Dinner and overnight in Campbeltown.

Day 3  Campbeltown to Islay

Leave hotel after breakfast for the ferry to Port Ellen on the Isle of Islay.  The Isle of Islay is home to the world's most distinct and full-flavoured smoky and peaty single malt whiskies. Islay, known as the "Queen of the Hebrides" is the southernmost of the Inner Hebridean Islands, located off the west coast of Scotland.   This picturesque island is home to several whisky distilleries, producing smoky and peaty whiskies. We begin with a visit to the Bruichladdich distillery, pronounced "brook-laddie," Bruichladdich sits close to Port Charlotte on Islay and produces both peaty and non peaty malts. In the afternoon we enjoy a tour of the picturesque island before travelling to our island hotel and enjoying fresh local seafood. Dinner and overnight in Port Askaig.

Day 4  Jura Excursion

After a leisurely breakfast, we visit the nearby Caol Ila distillery where we find the distillers at work tending the copper stills, working with a magnificent background view across the Sound of Islay to the spectacular Paps of Jura.  Leaving Islay behind, we take a short ferry journey over to Jura, to visit one of the most remote distilleries in Scotland, Jura distillery.  Jura is renowned for its magnificently wild landscape and also the place where George Orwell wrote 1984. We have a lunch at the distillery and have an unhurried visit.  The Jura Distillery has been in operation since 1810 and produces a very peaty tasting whisky. Leaving the distillery we have a relaxing tour of this wonderfully wild island before crossing back to Islay and our hotel.  Dinner and overnight in Port Askaig.

Day 5  Islay to Inverness

Departing  after breakfast, we travel back to the south of the island, where we find further well known brands –the full bodied malts of Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaig.  At Laphroaig Distillery they still cut their peat by hand and Lagavulin is renowned for its long maturation and complex, rich, peaty character.  Ardbeg is the most peaty malt whisky and is now one of the fastest growing Islay malts.

We stop for a quick dram at one of these distilleries before we board the ferry back to the mainland. Back on the mainland we head north towards Inverness, travelling through the west coast of Scotland.  We pause in Oban for a visit to the famous Oban distillery - one of the oldest whisky distilleries in Scotland before travelling through the Great Glen, into the Highlands to Inverness.  Dinner and overnight in Inverness.

Day 6  Isle of Skye Excursion

Leaving after breakfast we travel along the shores of Loch Ness to visit the ruins of Urquhart Castle, before heading further west with its ever changing landscape, from lush green mountains to barren moor land. Continue to cross the Bridge onto the Isle of Skye. Stop to sample a dram of the famous Talisker whisky, a sweet full bodied whisky, the only distillery on Skye, then onto the fishing port of Portree for lunch.  We continue to the north of the island to visit the magnificent Dunvegan Castle before returning back to Inverness. Dinner and overnight in Inverness.

Day 7  Inverness to Aberdeen - The Whisky Trail

We leave the hotel after breakfast for a brief city tour of Inverness and then travel towards Speyside, part of the world famous Whisky Trail – the largest number of distilleries in Scotland - for a completely different whisky tasting experience from Oban and Skye.  Speyside whisky is the lightest, sweetest single malts, which with age bringing a bit more body.  The first part of our route will be along the Spey Valley where we will cross several small rivers, tributaries, whose names appear on the labels of famous malt whiskys: The Rothes, the FiddichIsla, and many others and the Deveron and we will then arrive at a Dufftown distillery where we will visit The Glenfiddich distillery, sampling the different blends.  We stop for lunch at the distillery and then head south towards the fishing village of Stonehaven, and  the stunning ruins of the cliff top 13th century Dunnottar Castle.  Leaving Dunnottar, we head north towards Aberdeen and enjoy a brief city tour before arriving at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 8  Aberdeen to Edinburgh

Our journey continues after breakfast as we head to Edinburgh. We stop at Glamis Castle, one of the most interesting castles of Scotland, rich in history and legends. We then continue towards Pitlochry to visit the Edradour Distillery, the smallest traditional distillery in Scotland with a wide range of production. We then travel south via Dunkeld, with a stop to take some pictures to the stunning Cathedral. Arrival in Edinburgh and city sightseeing, This will include the New Town with its Georgian architecture, Princes Street and its GardensCarlton Hill with its breathtaking panoramic views, the Old Town and the Royal MileHolyrood Palace . Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 9  Edinburgh and Borders Excursion

In the morning, after breakfast, visit at Edinburgh Castle, then we head to the Glenkinchie distillery to taste the “Edinburgh Malt” with its light, floral and fragrant aromas and flavours. We then travel to the picturesque town of Melrose in the Borders. After visiting the Abbey, famous for being the burial place of Robert the Bruce’s heart, we travel back to Edinburgh via Galashiels and Peebles  along the River Tweed. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 10  Edinburgh 

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure flight.
