About the Package

Day 1  Arrival

Meet your guide at the airport, with a visit to Cairnpapple Hill and Torphichen, the ancient seat of the Knights Templar in Scotland since 1160, (visit dependant on flight arrival time) on way to your relaxing Scottish Hotel. Dinner, overnight and breakfast in 4 star country house hotel in Ayrshire.

Day 2  Kilwinnig to Edinburgh

After breakfast, we visit the Kilwinning Lodge – so old that it is numbered ‘Nothing’ or 0.  The Mother Lodge of Scotland is situated in the Ayrshire town of Kilwinning.  This old and ancient Lodge of Freemasons dates back to the building of Kilwinning Abbey around 1140 and has a unique history second to none in the Masonic world. Before the forming of Grand Lodge in 1736 Mother Kilwinning was a Grand Lodge in her own right issuing charters and warrants to Lodges wishing to enjoy the privileges of Freemasonry.  We leave Kilwinning and visit a typical whisky distillery such as Auchentoshan Distillery, before heading for Edinburgh via West Lothian.  Stop for lunch in a local restaurant and then travel onto the nearby town of Linlithgow for a visit to Lodge of Linlithgow No.17 whose earliest reference was in the minutes of Lodge No1 St Marys Chapel in 1654.  Travel onto Edinburgh for our hotel. Dinner, overnight and breakfast in  4 star hotel in Edinburgh.

Day 3  Edinburgh

Begin the day with a visit to Lodge Canongate Kilwinning No2, chartered in 1677, the oldest lodge building in the world.  It is where Lord St.Clair of Roslin was initiated and credited as the Last Hereditary Grand Master of the Craft in Scotland.  One of the most famous individuals to have affiliated to Lodge Canongate Kilwinning was Robert Burns in 1787.  The organ is thought to have belonged to Handel and bequeathed to the Lodge in the 1750s.   Our day continues with a visit to the iconic Rosslyn Chapel, founded by William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness.   Stop for lunch at Prestonfield House in central Edinburgh and then we visit the Masonic Museum in the Grand Lodge of Scotland, located in the heart of the New Town, which contains the oldest Masonic records in the world, including those of Lodge Aitcheson's Haven dating from January 1599, the famous 'Burns Inauguration' painting as well as numerous Masonic Artifacts.   We finish our day with a visit to the temple of the Lodge of Edinburgh Mary’s Chapel No1, their minute book is more than 400 years old with records from 1599.  Dinner, overnight and breakfast in  4 star hotel in Edinburgh.
